HDTach is a popular hard drive benchmark utility. Used and loved the world over for its simplicity and accuracy. HDTach provides a quick benchmark for quick hard drive speed checks or longer more accurate benchmark for precision results.

HD Tach provides burst rate, access time and sequential read results that can then be compared with other similar hard drives for reference. Displays CPU usage during these tests to give an indication of the load placed on the CPU by RAID controllers, PCI host adaptors and Chipsets.

HDTach Windows 7 and Windows Vista support isn't by default. You need to run HDTach in compatibility mode for Windows XP. You can do this by right clicking the Icon, to launch the program, click "Properties > Compatibility > Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows XP. HDTach will run as normal and results are still accurate.
