PuTTY is a Telnet & SSH client for Windows. PuTTY is an SSH / Telnet client leader, supporting a host of features that are in no way legacy. PuTTY supports SSH-2 key exchange and public-key authentication. Support for various cryptographic standards, including SDCTR, CBC & SHA-256 cipher modes is provided.

With SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol) a secured version of the standard FTP, which in recent years has proved to be one of the biggest security holes in which hackers gain access to websites. PuTTY's support for SFTP at higher than average transfer rates mates PuTTY hard to beat.

Installed with PuTTY are features listed:

• PuTTY (the Telnet and SSH client itself)
• PSCP (an SCP client, i.e. command-line secure file copy)
• PSFTP (SFTP client, secured File Transfer Protocol)
• Plink (Command-line interface to PuTTY)
